How To Enter NVOL!  Statements for the Reliadens™ Controller

Entering NVOL! (Non-Volatile Memory) statements can be done by using a laptop or PC unit connected to COM2 on the back of the Controller. The communications cable 9 to 24 pin is provided with each unit. The statements are numbered 1 through 16 as of January 8, 1998. These values do not have to be re-entered if a new program is downloaded. All of the NVOL!'s are assigned a "title".

As an example NVOL!(101) may represent the Calibration Constant that the Controller uses to figure the bulk density value. All of the NVOL!'s are numerical values. The NVOL!'s "titles" are always the same from one machine to another.

Example for Sampler #1:

NVOL!( 1 01)=##value##

NVOL!( 1 01)=##value##

ECT............

NVOL!( 1 16)=##value##

If you have two to four samplers running off of one control unit, each of them has their own set of NVOL!'s.

Example for Sampler #2:

NVOL!( 2 01) = ##value##

NVOL!( 2 02) = ##value##

ETC.......

NVOL!( 2 16) = ##value##

Example for Sampler #3:

NVOL!( 3 01) = ##value##

NVOL!( 3 02) = ##value##

ETC.......

NVOL!( 3 16) = ##value##

Follow these instructions to enter the new NVOL! statements that you require. The instructions are based on one sampler. Simply use an NVOL!( 2 __)= statement for sampler #2 and a NVOL!( 3 __)= statement for sampler #3.

Things you will need:

1.

A PC with a 3 1/2" floppy drive. This PC must be close enough to the Reliadens TM controller so you can download your new program. Laptops are highly recommended.

2.

Null Modem cable (Supplied in tool kit with each unit.)

3.

Application Builder TM software (3 1/2" disk included with each unit.)

Follow these steps to enter NVOL! statements:

These steps assume that you have NOT already started your Dos Build program on your PC. If you have already started DOS Build and are connected to the Controller, skip to step #6.

1.

Open the controller enclosure and locate the COM2 port on the back of the controller.

2.

Insert your NULL MODEM cable into the COM2 port. Connect the other end of the cable to your PC serial port.

3.

Start your PC in the DOS MODE.

4.

Insert the Application Builder disk in you PC.

5.

To start the program, type "BUILD" at the "A" prompt when "A" is your 3 1/2" floppy drive.

6.

After Dos Build is open press ESC.

7.

When MODE is highlighted use the arrow keys and select "TERMINAL MODE".

8.

When the terminal screen opens follow these steps:

Type "NVOL!(101)=10" and press enter.
This variable represent your calibration constant, after start up with this new value you will need to re calibrate your system (Only software calibration)

Type "NVOL!(113) =#.###" and press enter.

This variable represent the cup volume of your system in liters.
Note: You will find your cup volume at beginning of your manual on the customer page.

### is where you will place the cup volume in liter. After you enter the new NVOL! value, look at the Controller screen and confirm that the line was entered into the Controller.

Close/Exit the "Terminal Mode".

9.

Close/Exit Dos Build.

10.

After you unhook the pc from the Controller, press F1 (RUN) on the Controller.

11.

Let the sampler run for 10-15 minutes.
